The Kriptomat security team notices occasional phishing attacks directed at Kriptomat executives, team members, and users. The most serious attacks redirect users to websites that look just like the Kriptomat login page. Links to fake websites have appeared in emails, on social media, and even in paid advertisements on Google. The links typically lead to a website with an address that is almost the same as ours.

Hackers hope that inattentive users will attempt to log in at the phony sites, exposing their real log-on credentials.

Kriptomat relies on two-factor authentication to guard against attacks like these. Even if hackers collect email addresses and passwords from unwary users, they won’t gain access to accounts.

Still, as a security precaution, the team may temporarily freeze crypto withdrawals and other features until threats are neutralized.

If you use your Kriptomat password at other sites, you should change your passwords there. We also recommend that you change your password at Kriptomat occasionally.

• Kriptomat Support communicates only via [email protected] and live chat within the website and mobile app.
• We will never ask for your login credentials.
• We will never ask for credit or debit card credentials.
• Always be wary when accessing any new website, and never provide sensitive data there before ensuring the website is authentic.
• Always make sure you are accessing Kriptomat at the correct URL. This is the best way to avoid phishing. We recommend that you avoid typing errors that could lead to a fake site by creating a shortcut to Kriptomat and visiting us by clicking or tapping on it.
• Be wary if an “employee” of Kriptomat contacts you. Feel free to contact the Support team via email to ask if the contact is legitimate.
• If something feels “shady” to you, well… most likely it is. 
• Always do research on companies offering you their services before trusting them with your hard-earned money.
